A Recent or Pending Diagnosis.
Maybe you’ve been dealt some heavy information about your child’s learning differences, either from a medical professional or an educator encouraging an evaluation. Maybe you feel like things are out of control at home. Maybe your child recently received a diagnosis or maybe you’re wondering if you should pursue one… This can be a scary and overwhelming time! In these sessions I provide an overview that includes definitions and explanations of terminology, service and treatment options, and initial resources. Caregivers will walk away with a better understanding of what they are dealing with, how they can best support their child, and what their neurodivergent journey will look like. Clarity is coming!
Care Coordination.
Regardless of diagnosis status, caregivers are looking for ways to improve the life of their child and family. With so many options and recommendations coming from every side, it’s difficult to determine next steps. In these sessions I help caregivers understand the unique needs of their child and family; then I help them identify services and supports that are appropriate. I can help families locate providers in the Austin area and I work to help caregivers grow their advocacy skills and confidence. Upon completion of these sessions caregivers will have a care plan and will feel empowered to advocate for their child.
Ongoing Support.
Support for neurodiversity is not always a “one and done” set plan. Things change, children grow, new concerns develop. In these sessions I provide consultation for caregivers who want to check-in when new issues arise or during transition periods; as needed.
